The Official Player Acceptance List for the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag 2023 has been published

One of the leading tennis players in the world, three winners of the Grand Slam tournament, the current winner of the junior French Open and a handful of players who are excellent on clay and can also boast of excellent results - this is how the composition of this year's Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag tournament could be described in the shortest terms.

The Official Player Acceptance List has been published, and it includes, in addition to the previously announced stars (Holger Rune, Marin Čilić, Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem), some other tennis players who could interfere in the fight for the title at the 33rd edition of the only Croatian ATP tournament .

“We are extremely proud of this year’s list of players at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag, considering that it includes tennis players from our major outbound markets. This way, the only Croatian ATP tournament will be able to maintain its role as a promoter of Croatian tourism, given that the tournament will be closely followed in our outbound markets. We believe that both the players and the fans are in for a treat on the Stella Maris courts and beyond. Therefore, I would once again like to extend my invitation to everyone as a reminder to book their spot in Umag,” said Dragan Pujas, President of the Organizing Committee for the tournament and President of the Plava Laguna Management Board.

“The list includes several experienced players who have already proven themselves at major tournaments, as well as younger ones who probably have a great career ahead of them,” said Tomislav Poljak, Tournament Director of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag tournament. “One of the younger players is the 21-year-old Czech player Jiri Lehečka, who reached the Australian Open quarter-finals and claimed two victories this year over tennis players ranked among the Top 10. Lorenzo Sonego, an Italian player who has won three ATP tournaments thus far, will also be joining us, along with Roberto Carballes Baena and Albert Ramos-Vinolas, two Spanish players who reached the 2021 semi-finals in Umag. Marco Cecchinato, an Italian player who won the 2018 Umag tournament, will also be returning, while his compatriot and former Umag winner Fabio Fognini failed to directly qualify for the main tournament.”

The list of tournament participants is yet to be finalized, as we still have three invitations for the main draw. One will be awarded to Dino Prižmić, one of the best young Croatian tennis players, who recently won the junior French Open, while the winners of the remaining two invitations will be announced later.

Anyone who wants to secure their place at the spectacle in Stella Maris can find their ticket by clicking the link of the official webshop. Be sure to buy your ticket in time as the last remaining tickets are already on sale for the finale.
