Young Croatian tennis player Dino Prižmić took an important step in his career at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, where he reached the main draw of an ATP Masters 1000 event for the first time.
Prižmić advanced through qualifying and then recorded his first win at Masters level, defeating Australia’s Tristan Schoolkate 7–6(5), 3–6, 7–5 in the opening round. With that victory, the 19-year-old from Split confirmed his steady progress on the ATP Tour and marked another significant milestone in his development, also achieving a career-high ATP ranking (112).
In the second round, he faced France’s Arthur Fils, one of the most promising young players on the Tour. However, the match did not end as the Croatian had hoped — Prižmić was forced to retire in the second set due to arm pain.
Despite the early end to his campaign, his appearance in Indian Wells remains an important step forward: his first ATP Masters 1000 main-draw appearance and his first win at that level.
It is also worth noting that Arthur Fils has recently started working with Goran Ivanišević, who has taken on a mentoring role within his coaching team.
