At the 35th edition of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open on Monday, he got past the first hurdle, defeating qualifier Alvaro Guillen Meza 6-4, 6-1. He didn’t start off well, as the Ecuadorian had a 2-1 lead and serve early on, but Wawrinka quickly found the right rhythm and eventually reached his eleventh singles victory in Umag.
