As part of this year's Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag, the ITF Wheelchair Croatia Open Umag by HEP was held once again, bringing together top wheelchair tennis players from across Europe.

Competing in a field of 16 players from seven countries, Ante Kolunđija claimed the title. He was awarded the trophy after his opponent in the final, Germany's Anthony Dittmar, was forced to withdraw due to injury before the match began.

The winner's trophy was presented by Goran Ivanisevic, while Arlen Brozic, director of the tournament executive board, also took part in the award ceremony and congratulated everyone involved on another successfully organized event.

Three Croatian players competed in this year's tournament: Ante Kolunđija, Sven Maretic and Anto Joskic, who is also the tournament organizer and one of the key figures behind the development of wheelchair tennis in Croatia.

"We are delighted with the successful conclusion of another edition of our tournament. I am especially happy that, for the first time, we have a Croatian singles champion, so congratulations to Ante. I would also like to thank Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag and HEP for helping us promote our sport and, at the same time, raise awareness of the importance of inclusion for people with disabilities. The tournament has been a great success, and I believe we have truly become an integral part of the Umag tournament. We are already looking forward to next year and the eighth edition," said Joskic.

Over the years, the ITF Wheelchair Croatia Open Umag by HEP has become an important part of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag programme. In addition to providing players with the opportunity to earn valuable ITF World Ranking points, the tournament continues to raise the profile of wheelchair tennis and promote sport for people with disabilities.

The event is also made possible through the "Ace to the Rescue" charity initiative, supported by Hrvatska elektroprivreda (HEP), a long-standing partner of the Umag tournament. The initiative is based on the total number of aces served during the tournament, with a donation made for every ace. The funds raised are invested in the organization of the ITF Wheelchair Croatia Open Umag by HEP and the continued development of wheelchair tennis.
