A UTR Pro Tennis Tour event was held in Umag, featuring 20 male and 20 female players, with a week of competition culminating in both men’s and women’s champions.
As with other events in the series, the tournament was played in a specific format combining a round-robin stage with a knockout phase, ensuring a higher number of matches and a clear competition structure.
In the men’s draw, Deni Žmak, a 35-year-old player from Pula and a familiar face on Umag courts, delivered another strong performance marked by an attractive and efficient style of play. In the final, he defeated Germany’s Tim Handel 6–4, 6–3, recovering from a break deficit in both sets.
The tournament also featured a women’s event in Umag for the first time, with the final contested between Weronika Falkowska (No. 522) and Laura Svatikova (No. 763). The higher-ranked Polish player prevailed in three sets, winning 6–4, 3–6, 6–2.
By winning the tournament, both champions earned USD 3,600, while it should be noted that the remaining prize money was distributed among all participants.
Finally, the next UTR event in Umag, this time in the men’s competition, is scheduled to take place from June 21 to 27.
