Top Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz has officially withdrawn from the 2025 ATP tournament in Umag due to ongoing knee issues that required surgical intervention. In a statement shared on his social media (@hubihurkacz), Hurkacz revealed that he had been struggling with persistent knee pain, fluid build-up, and inflammation that severely affected his ability to train and compete.
“Over the past few weeks, I’ve been dealing with knee issues, such as pain, fluid build-up, and other problems that made it hard to train and compete,” he wrote. “After exploring different options, we decided that having an arthroscopy this past Monday was the best solution.”
The procedure involved the removal of an overgrown synovial membrane that had been the source of the inflammation. Hurkacz expressed his gratitude to Dr. Bartłomiej Kacprzak, who performed the surgery, and emphasized that he will only return to competition once he’s fully recovered.
“I’m now starting my recovery and will only come back when I’m 110% ready to compete again,” he added. “Thanks so much for all the support, it really means a lot to me and can’t wait to be back on court.”
His absence will be a notable one in the Umag lineup, but fans will undoubtedly be wishing him a smooth and strong recovery.
