Zagreb, July 17, 2026 – Led by the world No. 10 and Roland Garros finalist Flavio Cobolli, this year’s tournament will bring together a strong lineup of top-ranked players, while organizers today confirmed two additional names joining the field – Roland Garros semifinalist Matteo Arnaldi and one of the world’s most promising young talents, Belgian player Alexander Blockx.
Arnaldi reached the semifinals of Roland Garros this year and currently ranks among the top players in the world, while Blockx, a former world No. 1 junior and Australian Open boys’ champion, has already made a major breakthrough this season with a semifinal appearance at the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid and currently holds the No. 37 spot in the ATP rankings.
“We are heading into another outstanding edition of the tournament, taking place in the week immediately following Wimbledon. We have a Roland Garros finalist and semifinalist, one of the most talented Croatian players, as well as several other players from the top tier of world tennis, with additional wild cards available for promising Croatian talents. I am extremely pleased with the entry list, as once again we have players who are currently at the top of the game, as well as those who are on their way there. That has always been part of our tournament tradition. I would also like to highlight that all four of this year’s Roland Garros semifinalists have experience playing in Umag – Alexander Zverev, Flavio Cobolli, Matteo Arnaldi, and Jakub Menšík,” said Tournament Director Tomislav Poljak.
Earlier confirmations for this year’s tournament include Croatian representative Dino Prižmić, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Tomás Martín Etcheverry, Hubert Hurkacz, and Fabian Marozsan, giving this year’s edition one of the strongest player fields in recent years.
The tournament is organized and sponsored by Plava Laguna, whose CEO Dragan Pujas emphasized its importance for the destination and Croatian tourism: “Thirty-six years of tennis tradition in Umag represent far more than the continuity of a sporting event. They are a testament to vision, dedication, and the long-term efforts of generations who have built this tournament into the leading summer sports and tourism event in the region. As a company deeply connected to this destination, we are especially proud to continue developing a story that successfully combines top-level sport, unforgettable entertainment, authentic gastronomy, and a premium hospitality experience. This year, Umag will once again host players from the very top of world tennis, including Top 10 and Top 20 competitors. The fact that we have been able to maintain this level of quality for 36 consecutive years is a strong confirmation of the reputation our tournament has built on the international tennis stage.”
Top-Level Tennis in an Attractive Destination
Once again, the Umag tournament will serve as a strong magnet for both domestic and international visitors. World-class tennis, an attractive destination, and a unique atmosphere have been drawing sports fans from around the globe for decades, many of whom return to Croatia and Umag year after year. The City of Umag has proudly hosted the tournament since 1990 and remains a key partner in its development. Its importance for the local community, as well as the city’s international recognition, was highlighted by Mayor Vili Bassanese:
“Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag has been a defining symbol of our city for 36 years. It is undoubtedly the longest-running sporting event in Croatia, something we are extremely proud of. Over the decades, the ATP tournament in Umag has grown into much more than a tennis event – it has become a synonym for the perfect blend of sport, entertainment, gastronomy, and a premium tourism experience, consistently reinforcing Umag’s status as an attractive international destination. The tournament has evolved into a powerful brand that positions our city on the global tennis and tourism map. It therefore holds a special place in Umag’s identity, and as a community, we proudly nurture the values it represents and support its continued growth. I am particularly proud, as Mayor of Umag, to actively take part in this team project and synergy that has been building its recognition through the ATP tournament for 36 years. The City of Umag is a partner and a strong supporter of this prestigious tennis event and will continue to play an important role in its development. Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag is the result of the dedication of everyone involved in this remarkable story – from the Lukšić family to all the volunteers who contribute to the international reputation of our city, something we are all extremely proud of.”
More Than Just Tennis
However, Umag will once again offer much more than world-class tennis. Evenings during the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag are reserved for the vibrant Umag Music Nights program, featuring a lineup of regional music stars and internationally renowned DJs. Highlights include performances by basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, better known today as DJ Diesel, regional trap sensation Senidah, legendary bands Parni Valjak and Prljavo Kazalište, as well as one of the world’s most recognized DJs, Fedde Le Grand. The grand finale of Umag Music Nights will take place on Saturday, July 18, when the stage will be taken over by one of today’s most recognizable house producers, DJ Dombresky.
The full Umag summer experience will be further enriched by the must-visit Taste Istria zone, once again bringing together leading Istrian winemakers, gourmet exhibitors, and lovers of authentic Istrian flavors.
With such a strong player field and a rich accompanying program, the 36th edition of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag once again confirms its status as one of the most important sporting events in Croatia and the region, as well as a must-attend summer event for all fans of sports and entertainment.
