Dino lost his serve in the opening game, but what followed was an excellent stretch of play. He won 13 of the next 15 points and six consecutive games. In the second set, Darderi reduced his number of errors, and the pattern continued in the third. Dino was broken at 2–3 and then failed to convert a break point in the next game to level the score (Darderi played a brilliant passing shot). After that, he had no further chances.
“I started the first set really well, but in the second I didn’t go for the match — I waited. That was a mistake. He’s too experienced not to sense that,” said Prižmić. “My game is stronger than it was two years ago, but injuries have kept me off the court for a while. I just hope I can stay healthy.”
Despite the quarterfinal loss, Prižmić will climb the ATP rankings on Monday, moving up around twenty spots from his current position of No. 143. This was his third appearance in Umag, and he has now matched his best result at the tournament, having also reached the quarterfinals in 2023.
Darderi, meanwhile, is now two wins away from his third ATP title, having already claimed trophies this season in Marrakech and Båstad. His next opponent will be Camilo Ugo Carabelli, for whom the current ranking of No. 51 marks a career high. The Argentine is playing his fourth semifinal of the season, having lost in all three previous ones.
In the other semifinal, Spain’s Carlos Taberner, the world No. 111, will face the fourth seed, Damir Džumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Taberner, who earlier defeated the defending champion Cerundolo, reached his first ATP semifinal by overcoming the Netherlands’ De Jong 7–5, 6–3. Džumhur advanced after beating France’s Titouan Droguet 3–6, 7–5, 6–2.
