Croatian tennis player Dino Prizmic playing the tennis of his life and filling newspaper columns with sensational headlines week after week is no longer any kind of secret.
The 20-year-old from Split once again caught attention with an impressive performance in Madrid, where he recorded his first victory over a top 10 player in the world – American Ben Shelton (6) by a score of 6–4, 6–7(4), 7–6(5).
After coming through the qualifying rounds into the main draw, it marked another major achievement for Prizmic, who earlier this year claimed his first Masters win in Indian Wells. This was followed by a rapid rise on the ATP rankings, a first entry into the top 100, while the current live ranking suggests Dino is now the world No. 79.
He concluded his Madrid run in the third round, losing in three sets to Argentina’s Tomás Etcheverry, another player who has confirmed his arrival this July at the ATP Plava Laguna Croatia Open in Umag.
Cobolli continues his strong run
Flavio Cobolli, the Italian proudly announced by the Umag tournament as the first and leading name of the 2026 player field, continues to deliver outstanding performances in the season of his career. At the Madrid Masters, he reached a Masters 1000 quarter-final for the first time, where he was ultimately stopped by world No. 3, Germany’s Alexander Zverev.
The popular “Hulk” has already played in two ATP 500 finals this season, winning the Mexican Open, and continues to push his limits week after week, climbing the ATP rankings and making steady progress towards the top 10 of the PIF ATP Rankings. He entered the Madrid Masters as the world No. 13 and is currently ranked No. 12 in the ATP Live Rankings after earning an additional 150 points.
