The Croatian national tennis team defeated Denmark 3–1 in Varaždin to secure a place in the next round of the Davis Cup. Croatia’s first point in Saturday’s programme was delivered by the doubles pair Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić, who defeated Danish representatives Johannes Ingildsen and Carl Emil Overbeck in straight sets. In singles, Croatia were led by Dino Prižmić(ATP No. 122), who recorded two victories. He first defeated August Holmgren(No. 199) after a comeback, 5–7, 6–0, 6–2, before overcoming Elmer Møller(No. 120) 7–6(5), 7–6(2), a result that confirmed Croatia’s overall victory in the tie. Matej Dodig also featured for Croatia, pushing Møller hard in his singles match before narrowly losing in two tight sets, 6–4, 7–6(3). Despite the defeat, Dodig once again demonstrated his progress and potential at Davis Cup level. With the win over Denmark, Croatia successfully continued its Davis Cup campaign, supported by strong contributions from young players who have also made their mark at the ATP tournament in Umag.
