Tennis is a sport that develops discipline, motor skills and team spirit from a young age, and is especially important for children who learn important life lessons through play and competition. This year, Kids Week by Podravka at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag brought a lot of joy and sports activities for the youngest tennis fans. For five full days, children had the opportunity to play tennis with some of their greatest tennis idols.

Thus, our young tennis player Mili Poljičak joined the first Kids Week of the year, spending time with around thirty children from Umag and other towns in Istria. The kids showcased their racket skills, impressing everyone present with their talent and enthusiasm.

The following day, on Monday, boys and girls played tennis with Italian player Fabio Fognini and Colombian player Cristian Rodriguez. These top athletes played doubles matches against the children, creating unforgettable moments they will cherish for a lifetime.

On the third day of Kids Week, last year’s doubles champions, Croatian player Nino Serdarušić and Slovenian player Blaž Rola, took part. The children warmed up, competed in groups, and refined their techniques with the help of coaches. Playing against Serdarušić and Rola was truly a special experience for all the young tennis players.

Wednesday saw the kids meet the tennis ball machine robot, Karlo. The robot fascinated them, helping them practice precision and technique. Alongside the robot, the children enjoyed playing with tennis players Deni Žmak, Karlo Kajin, and Duje Ajduković. Ajduković also gave them valuable advice: "In tennis, it’s important to train and be persistent."

Thursday marked the final day of Kids Week at the Umag tournament, with the children joined on the court by legendary tennis player Goran Ivanišević and Croatia’s top-ranked wheelchair tennis player Anto Joskić, giving them a day full of tennis and fun.

Kids Week by Podravka at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag demonstrated the importance of investing in the future of tennis through working with children. Over these five days, young players had the opportunity to learn from top athletes, develop new skills, and enjoy the sport that inspires them. Thanks to the unforgettable moments spent with their idols, these aspiring tennis players will continue to dream big—perhaps one day becoming sports stars themselves.
