On Sunday, July 5, this year's edition of the ITF M15 ''Road to Umag'' came to a close.

Twenty-year-old Italian Lorenzo Angelini from Cesena claimed the singles title after defeating fellow countryman Luca Castagnola in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, in the final. Castagnola currently sits at World No. 897.

Angelini, currently ranked No. 683 in the PIF ATP Rankings, entered the tournament as the eighth seed. His biggest victories came in the quarter-finals, where he eliminated fourth seed Giovanni Oradini, and in the semi-finals, where he defeated top seed Andrej Martin, the 2016 Croatia Open finalist.

The all-Italian singles final capped off a dominant weekend for the Italians. In the doubles event, Pietro Orlando Fellin and Giovanni Oradini also lifted the trophy after a convincing 6-3, 6-1 victory over the Croatian-Bosnian and Herzegovinian pairing of Emanuel Ivanisevic and Ivan Biletic.

The tournament was successfully staged despite the exceptionally high temperatures that marked the entire competition week, serving as a successful dress rehearsal ahead of the 36th edition of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open.
