Pennetta and Vekić: We cannot wait to start playing, we promise you an on-court party

Tonight, Umag will host yet another great exhibition match. Following the exhibition played by the tennis legends Goran Ivanišević, Andre Agassi and Juan Carlos Ferrero, it is now the ladies' turn to show the fans what they can do: for the first time in the tournament's history, there will be a ladies' match here in Umag, between Flavia Pennetta and Donna Vekić.

Flavia Pennetta, reigning US Open champion, retired at the end of the last season; however, for the past few days, she has been training in Umag to get ready for the match. "Donna and I have never played against each other. I've done a bit of training but I do expect to have great fun and, of course, Donna to win," the Italian said and laughed, adding that she was blown away by Umag.

"I was here once before but it was many years ago and it is so much more beautiful now. I believe it's an excellent tournament. The conditions for the players are really fantastic and I can see why they like coming back," Flavia added. Pennetta will go out onto the court as soon as her husband Fabio Fognini's match is over. The Italian told us what it was like to be married. "Nothing much has changed since I got married. Everything is great and we are enjoying ourselves," Pennetta said.

Does she miss tennis? "No, I don't miss it. What I miss is hanging with the girls on the Tour as we used to be together all the time. But I don't miss the competition part. And that's fine, because if it were any different, it would be really difficult for me."

Donna Vekić arrived in Umag from the island of Hvar, where she completed her conditioning training for the remainder of the season. "I expect to win tonight as Flavia has retired from tennis. But I'm also confident we're going to have so much fun," Vekić said.

The match will not start before 9:30 PM and the organizers have prepared a few surprises during the match itself.
