Fognini the first finalist after drama in the third set

Third seed, Italian Fabio Fognini is the first finalist of 24th Vegeta Croatia Open in Umag. Fognini bested Gael Monfils from France in the semifinals after an hour and 55 minutes of play (6:0, 3:6, 7:6)

Even though the beginning of the match pointed towards a fast victory by Fognini, Monfils made a great comeback in the second set, while bringing a lot of drama to the third set that got the crowd at Umag's ATP stadium on their feet multiple times.

Both players had to save match points, but in the end Fognini prevailed, winning five straight points after Monfils let by 3:2, for the final score of 7:3 in tie break. This is Fognini's third ATP tournament final in a row.

Spaniard Tommy Robredo and Italian Andreas Seppi are playing in the second semifinal match.
