The ATP hostesses are the faces of the Umag-based ATP Vegeta
Croatia Open and irreplaceable contributors to the tournament's
overall charm. At this year's edition of the tournament, in the
period between July 5 and July 15, as many as 150 of them will
serve as important members of the organizing team. The organizers
are looking for responsible and communicative girls, who are fluent
in English (knowledge of any other language is a bonus) and who
like and are familiar with tennis.
The competition closes on June 1, 2012.
As always, the competition attracts considerable interest: every
year the organizers receive around 800 applications from girls who
want to become the ATP hostesses. Most of the girls are from
Croatia, in particular Slavonia; however, there are also
applications from girls in the neighboring Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Serbia and Slovenia. The organizers of the tournament are
particularly proud of the fact that many of the girls who send in
their applications have already spent a summer working at the
Umag-based tournament - some of them return for the third or fourth
time in a row.
Besides responsibilities across a dozen different services, the
ATP hostesses play an important role in promoting Umag, Istria and
Croatia to many international visitors and media. Last year alone
as many as 24 international broadcasters, including Eurosport 2,
BBC World News, Al Jazeera Sports Global, France 24 and Russia
Today, aired the total of 613 news reports on the tournament to a
potential viewership of 700 million, and the Umag hostesses were
oftentimes featured in those news reports. Even ATP's interest is
growing and it has begun placing stories about Umag's hostesses
around the world, using its own media.
Following the closing of the competition, sometime in early May
the girls will be invited to the castings in Zagreb, Osijek and
Pazin. After the castings the organizers will decide on which 150
girls will join the tournament's organizing team in July.
