Croatia's famous tennis player Ivan Ljubičić
retired from professional tennis following a match at the Monte
Carlo Masters. During his 14-year-long career Ivan won 10 ATP World
Tour titles and achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 3 back
in May 2006.
Bronze medalist at the 2004 Olympics in doubles
with fellow countryman Mario Ančić and leader of the team
that won the Davis Cup title in 2005, Ivan also left an
indelible mark on our tournament, leaving us incredibly proud of
it.
We are tremendously pleased that the ATP Studena Croatia Open in
Umag was the backdrop for many of Ivan's amazing performances. He
made the total of twelve appearances at our tournament, each time
attracting numerous tennis fans by putting up an excellent
game.
We want to thank Ivan for affirming and promoting Croatia's sports
around the world and for his many appearances in Umag as his
matches were a special draw for the fans. We wish him all the best
for the future in both his professional and private life.
