The 29th edition of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag tennis tournament will kick off on Saturday with an exhibition match between two old friends, Goran Ivanišević and Mansour Bahrami.

On numerous occasions so far, Ivanišević has shown he is the undisputed tennis court ruler and a huge jokester, and on Saturday, the tournament’s visitors will learn firsthand why Bahrami is known as the most entertaining player in the history of tennis. Just before the exhibition match though, the main tournament draw will be held, and the evening will come to a close with the greatest hits performed by the legendary Croatian singer Petar Grašo.

“Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag is a combination of top-quality tennis, excellent concerts and the best gourmet offer, which is why it proudly holds the title of the top tennis tournament in this part of the world, as evidenced by more than 100,000 visitors each year. We are eagerly awaiting our tennis players and guests, and we would like to invite all those who have never been to Umag before to come and experience this unique atmosphere and create unforgettable memories in the 2018 European City of Sport ,” said Ronald Korotaj, chairman of the tournament’s Organizing Committee.

Sport is a universal language, it erases borders between people and transcends the differences, said our frequent guest and friend of the tournament, the great Novak Đoković, just a few days ago. Accordingly, ATP Umag will not forget our fellow athletes, the football players, either.

On Saturday afternoon, starting at 4 PM, all the tournament’s visitors will be able to watch the World Cup third place play-off between Belgium and England at Stella Maris. It will be a perfect warmup for the grand finale on Sunday at 5 PM between Croatia and France, and we fully expect the cheering fever to grip Stella Maris.

The competition part of the tournament will start on Sunday with the qualifying matches, while the main tournament will kick off on Monday.
