This summer TV viewers in as many as 170
countries watched the matches from the 24th Vegeta
Croatia Open, which took place in Umag,
Croatia, from July 18 to 28, showed the initial reports on the
media coverage of Croatia's oldest and most popular ATP tournament.
That is a significant increase, considering the fact that the
matches played during last year's tournament had been aired in 139
countries around the world.
Alongside the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), images from
Umag were broadcasted by 26 TV stations, seven
more than last year. The total viewership reach was 157.5
million households, as compared to 140 million households in
2012.
Matches played in Umag were broadcasted in all of Croatia's most
important emissive markets, such as Italy, Slovenia, Germany,
Austria, Hungary and countries of the former Yugoslavia, as well as
countries farther away, including Russia and Poland. This year the
Umag-based tournament welcomed over 70,000 visitors, more than
15,000 of whom watched the final match and Spain's Tommy Robredo's
win over Italy's Fabio Fognini.
