The Istria Gourmet Festival, held for the
fourth successive year, will be open from Saturday, July
19, to the end of the tournament on Sunday, July 28. The
Festival comprises four elements: The Istria Gourmet Restaurant,
Nasa kuzina (Our Cuisine), Vinistra and the Taste Istria Zone, a
new element introduced this year. In line with the Festival's
mission to present Istria's choice products to the guests, the
program includes wine tastings, olive oil tastings, truffle
presentations and prosciutto and cheese tastings.
Istria Gourmet
Restaurant by San Rocco
San Rocco Restaurant from Brtonigla, a member of the Jeunes
Restorateurs d'Europe (JRE) association, and its chef Zoran Cobanov
will be preparing an รก la carte menu and a daily tasting menu. On
Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, the restaurant will be home to
a show cooking event featuring two renowned restaurant guests,
Tomaz Kavcic of Dvorec Zemono, another JRE member, who is known as
the Little Prince of Slovenian Cuisine, and Emanuele Scarello of
Agli amici from Udine, a member of a restaurant that was awarded
another Michelin's star in 2013.
Nasa kuzina (Our
Cuisine)
The well known Nasa kuzina (Our Cuisine), in which selected local
restaurateurs put together a daily ATP menu, is the second element.
Taverns Buscina and Nono and Food & Wine Primizia are this
year's Nasa kuzina partners.
Vinistra
30 different wines by Istrian winemakers that competed at this
year's Vinistra Show will be presented at the Vinistra point of
promotion and sale.
Taste
Istria
Taste Istria, a presentation of choice Istrian delicacies such as
wines, olive oils, cheeses, prosciuttos as truffles, is this year's
novelty. It will be taking place every day from 6:00 to 11:00 pm
with organized glass renting and tasting price of HRK 15.00.
Cheese, oil, prosciutto and truffle producers will be presenting
their products side-by-side with choice Istrian winemakers
Kozlovic, Coronica, Degrassi, Kabola, Cattunar, Cuj, Veralda,
Benvenuti, Matosevic, Franc Arman, Trapan and Laguna Vino.
Hidden Charms of Istrian Wines tasting events,
organized in cooperation with winemaker association Vinistra and
the Croatian Sommelier Club, will also be a part of Taste Istria.
These free wine tasting events with a new theme every day will be
open to all tournament guests between 9:00 and 10:00 pm. TV hostess
Antonija Mandic will guide Umag's guests through the wine tastings
in a casual and informal atmosphere, aided by a sommelier from the
Croatian Sommelier Club.
