The ATP Vegeta Croatia Open, held in Umag from
5. until 15. Of July, has generated a great amount of interest in
China, and Shanghay television has named it the best ATP
tournament on clay. Even though the competition is
composed from tournaments like Madrid and Monte Carlo, the Chinese
put Umag in front of everyone, due to its unique
combination of tennis, gastronomy and
entertainment.
Italian tennis player Fabio Fognini confirms the
tournament's great reputation, while discussing his experiences in
Umag for Italy's Tennis magazine. ATP Umag has become an
unavoidable date in the calendar due to Umag's great atmosphere,
which is very important for Fognini when he's on the court.
"The location is beautiful, with its view of the sea and the
restaurant overlooking the lagoon", says the Italian tennis
player while adding satisfaction with the hotel he was in, as well
as the staff that was always at his disposition. "Besides, you
aren't forced to stay at the hotel or the club at all times, there
are plenty of excellent and quiet restaurants in a five minute
drive radius", concludes Fognini in his review of the
tournament.
The visitors of 23. ATP Vegeta Croatia Open from 5. until 15. of
July can look forward to a very eventful program catered towards
all age groups. Along with excellent tennis, Istra Gourmet
Festival will once again gather the best Istrian
restaurants, wine makers and olive growers, while the
unique music repertoire includes over 100 hours of
program during the 11 days of the event.
Even though this year's tournament is being held between "the two
Wimbledon's", along with three other tournaments held in the same
time frame, the ATP Vegeta Croatia Open organizers have once again
managed to ensure the appearance of world's top tennis players.
Along with the top three Croatian tennis players - Marin Čilić, Ivo
Karlović and Ivan Dodig - last year's title winner will return as
well as two previous winners and three more players from the TOP
20.
