Road to Umag series of three tournaments was launched to give Croatian tennis players opportunity to play as many matches as possible on the home field, and the winner of each tournament qualified for the Road to Umag Masters, thus approaching the only Croatian ATP tournament.  Frane Ninčević, the winner of the tournament in Karlovac, Alen Rogić-Hadžalić, who won in Požega, and Božo Barun, who was the best in Split, will play at the Masters. They will be joined by Admir Kalender, Matija Pecotić and Domagoj Bilješko who received invitations.

We are extremely excited to open this 31st edition of the tournament with the finale of the Road To Umag series. We saw great tennis at the tournaments in Karlovac, Požega and Split, and, most importantly, gave the opportunity to all Croatian players to fight for their place among the elite- announced Tomislav Poljak, director of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open.

Admir Kalender, a 20-year-old from Umag, is grateful to have the opportunity to qualify for the Plava Laguna Croatia Open: "I would like to thank the organizers for the invitation, I think that the Masters is a good chance for us Croatians to try our luck at such a high level. A lot of good players are coming to Umag and it will be a challenge for me to play in front of the home crowd. "

The winner of the Masters will have the opportunity to play in the main tournament of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open and play with Carlos Alcaraz, Pablo Cuevas, Marco Cechinato, Dušan Lajović, Richard Gasquet, Lucas Pouille, Filip Krajinović and other great players who will next week again turn Umag into the main tennis hub of Croatia.
