ATP Studena Croatia Open has made a bold step
into China's enormous media market, where matches and highlights
from last year's edition of the tournament have been broadcasted
since the beginning of this year. Moreover, the arrival of Chinese
tennis players and journalists to this year's ATP Vegeta Croatia
Open, which will be held on July 5-15, has been
announced.
Since mid-January the Chinese public broadcaster
CNTV has been airing on its web service three matches from
last year's tournament, including the final match between
Alexandr Dolgopolov and Marin Čilić and tournament
highlights. The Umag-based tournament has thus joined the
exclusive company of tournaments of the ATP World Tour 250 Series,
which have managed to penetrate the Chinese media market. Last
year, for instance, only matches from tournaments in Eastbourne,
Queens' Club in London and Sweden's Bastad were aired in China.
