After showcasing fresh malvasias and aged terans, the latest, third Hidden Charms of the Istrian Wines tasting event featured merlots. Merlot is one of the most important and most common global red varieties, so it was quite interesting to taste merlots hailing from Istria, namely, those made by the Umag-based Fiore, Poleti and Kabola wineries. As always, tickets to the tasting event were in high demand.
In a quite interesting and close competition, the victory was taken by the Kabola Winery with its 2015 merlot. The 2019 ATP Wine of the Year will be announced on Sunday, and the winner will be presented with an award by the Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović.
