The journalists’ tournament, which has for the past nine years been known as the Ico Kerhin Memorial, has been taking place since the very start of the Croatia Open Umag. This year, the tournament featured 14 participants. Finally, following the ceremony, everyone was invited to a barbecue organized by PIK Vrbovec.
Ilvio Vidovich of the Italian UB tenis celebrated in today’s final of the media representatives’ tournament after defeating his colleague Zlatko Horvat of Novi list.
Both finalists were presented with their trophies by tournament director Lawrence Frankopan. Moreover, Branko Marović of Vat, an importer of the Babolat sports brand, gave them a Babolat gift bag each. Babolat is even this year a tournament partner with own stand in Social arena and also organizing Kid`s week for all kids to play tennis with professional players during the tournament.
The award ceremony was also an opportunity to give a special recognition to Mirna Zidarić, a reporter for the public broadcaster HRT, who has been reporting from the Umag tournament for an impressive 20 years. To mark the anniversary, Lawrence Frankopan presented Mirna with a trophy and congratulated her on behalf of the tournament’s organization. She also received a gift bag from Loretta Krota, tournament Press officer.
