The fifth seed and 32nd player in the world, Fabio Fognini from Italy advanced into the next round of 26th Konzum Croatia Open Umag with a victory over the 44th player in the world, Jiry Vesely from the Czech Republic. Fognini won in two sets (6:4, 6:4) after an hour and 32 minutes of play at the ATP stadium in Umag.
