The extremely interesting second day of the tournament brought a
total of 10 singles matches and 4 doubles matches, of a total of
almost 20 hours of excellent tennis. Despite the occasional rain,
the stands were filled with tennis fans. Unlike Monday, Tuesday was
much more successful for experienced players.
Croatian young hopes with invitations Ante Pavić and Mate
Delić were stopped in the first round by Horacio Zeballos
and Pablo Cuevas, who confirmed their status as favorites, despite
being qualifiers in Umag. The Russian Georgian Teymuraz Gabashvili
had the easiest match, whose opponent Dušan Lajović had a solid
serve, but returned serves extremely poorly.
The Argentinean Schwartzman was on the verge of upsetting the
favorite Czech Lukas Rosol, while Carlos Berlocq seized the drop in
concentration of the qualifier Andrej Martin in the second set and
sent him home. The drop in concentration was fatal for Julian
Reisner as well, so Igor Sijsling broke him in the third set. In
the central match of the night the experienced Albert Montanes
didn't allow the 16 years younger German star Alexander Zverev to
pass.
In the end of the day, the 26 year old Portuguese Pere Riba
defeated the five year younger Czech Jirij Veseli.
