After beating the third seed Nicolas Almagro in three sets the day before, Damir Džumhur played yet another excellent match here in Umag. The Italian Thomas Fabbiano won the first set but then Bosnia and Herzegovina's tennis player stepped up a gear, forced his opponent to make a number of errors and finished the match with easy 6:1 6:2, booking himself a place in the quarterfinals.

Yesterday was also a successful day for the Croatian doubles. Nikola Mektić and Antonio Sančić destroyed Teymuraz Gabashvili and Leander Paes in just two sets, 6:0 6:2, while Tomislav Draganja and Nino Serdarušić went through without even breaking a sweat as Jiry Vesely had to forfeit the match over a shoulder injury. Franko Škugor and Thomas Fabbiano won their match as well, which means it was a 100% successful day for the Croatians.

Tournament's favourite Fabio Fognini defeated Renzo Oliva in two sets.
