Today the Kids’ Week event, the children welcomed Ivan Dodig already lined up in two rows and ready to play. Before he came out on court, Tino and Lagunino, Istraturist and Plava Laguna’s mascots, hugged him and wished him luck. And he needed the luck as the children didn’t hold back. They showed just how serious they were when tennis was concerned, and Dodig rewarded each of their good shots with an applause or words of encouragement.
They especially liked his on-court tricks, such as the famous tweener. And even though Dodig had said upon arrival that he felt great, he had to step up his game to catch all the balls that were coming his way.
In the end, he and Lucas partnered up against twins Nina and Roza. Fast balls were coming from both sides of the net and gaining advantage wasn’t that easy. Both boys and girls fought valiantly and the match ended in a draw. The players then congratulated each other and posed for a joint photo. Tomorrow at 11 AM is the last Kids’ Week event, so get your rackets and head for the ATP Zone.
