This year's Celebrity stage will be hosting a humanitarian
action "Umag's stars for Umag's children", which
will gather funds for children with special needs from Umag.
Croatian tennis players Marin Čilić and Ivan Dodig
supported the action during the first day, along with the band
Angels and artist Alan Bjelinski. The girls from
the band Angels took care of the good atmosphere with their
singing, thus announcing their nighttime performance on Umag's
stage. Dodig said he is certain that Croatian players will do their
best on the court, in order to justify the support of Umag's
audience. To illustrate exactly how vigorously Umag's crowd can
cheer, Čilić recounted his experience during his first performance
in Umag in 2005. He arrived on the court full of confidence, but
following a thunderous greeting by Umag's audience, his "legs cut
off" from the jitters.
Famous Croatian musician Alan Bjelinski and member of Ante
Gelo&Alan Bjelinski Jazz Quartet, was a guest at the Celebrity
stage as well. His band creates a great musical coulisse for the
Istria Gourmet Festival every night starting at 20 hours. The
program was led by Antonia Mandić and Robert Anić, and the event
was finalized with autograph signing by our famous tennis players
who also signed official tournament tennis balls.
