On his 27th birthday, Aljaž Bedene had no luck. His celebration has been spoiled by the Serbian tennis player Nikola Čačić, who entered the main tournament through the qualifications.

The Slovenian with British passport started the match with the status of a favourite, which he justified in the first set. But then he started to make mistakes, there were also broken rackets and Čačić took advantage of his nervousness and won the second set and had 5:2 in the third set. Bedene came back into the match, he had a break, but then served badly. He was only two points away from deuce, but was not able to turn the match around and Čačić won his first match in an ATP tournament.

Nikola Mektić received an invitation to the 27th Konzum Croatia Open in Umag, but unfortunately he lost in the first round against the Argentinian Leonardo Mayer.

The Croat played well, he was leading 5:3, but then last year's 21st player of the world demonstrated why he was in that position. He made a series of 5-0, and won the second set with 7:5.

The Croatian double Ante Pavić and Dino Marcan did not have more luck. They unfortunately lost to the double Nicholas Monroe and Martin Sitak.
